As Sony promised today April 15th they released a new firmware for the PlayStation 3. Firmware
v2.30 brings a completely new look to the
PlayStation Store, as you can see and from the picture above. The main change of the PlayStation Store except from the new look is that now the Store is a native PS3 application and not web-based as it used to be; web-based applications have many limitations. As a native PS3 application gives the advantage to Sony to basically do whatever they want with it in term of services and style.
Other updates includes
DTS-HD Master Audio output with 7.1 audio channels at 96k sampling frequency/24 bit depths for Blu-ray videos, which means the high-definition visuals of Blu-ray will now be matched with the highest quality audio for the ultimate movie-watching experience on PS3.
Also as of today along with the new firmware is available from stores one of the most anticipated games of the year,
Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. The game is available on Blu-Ray disc from all major retail stores and will be available as a digital download from the new PlayStation Store on Thursday April 17th. Gran Turismo 5 Prologue is been available since December 2007 in Japan and just came out in Europe last month.
