Universal Studios, one of the first and loyal supporters of the HD DVD just turn Blu!
Only hours after
Toshiba announced the death of HD DVD Universal Studios announced they will completely drop HD DVD format and start releasing old titles along with upcoming movies on Blu-Ray format.
"While Universal values the close partnership we have shared with Toshiba, it is time to turn our focus to releasing new and catalog titles on Blu-ray," said Craig Kornblau, president of Universal Studios Home Entertainment.
Now the only studio left to support Blu-Ray is Paramount (which also owns DreamWorks) but it is only a matter of time until they announce their support for the Blu-Ray format. In fact we expect their announcement very soon, as early as tomorrow or by the end of this week the latest.
